Meet our Founder
I’m Kathrin Applebaum, founder of Hill Country Haus and mom of two energetic toddlers (I see you busy mommas!). My husband and I have called Austin home for over 15 years and are never tired of driving through our beloved Hill Country.
I created Hill Country Haus to bring a spark of seasonal joy to Austin-area homes, whether it’s the smile you get pulling into your driveway after a long day, or the warmth your kids feel being greeted by a festive front porch.
Originally from Germany (where “Haus” means “house”), I also spent 20 years soaking up the magic of Midwestern autumns with pumpkin patches, colorful leaves, and all. That love of fall is still with me, and I’m now bringing that cozy, curated feeling to Austin porches.
What makes Hill Country Haus different? We’re obsessed with details that last, from selecting the right pumpkins for Central Texas heat, to arranging displays with longevity and beauty in mind. Our goal is simple: to make it easy for you to have a gorgeous, festive front porch, without lifting a finger.

We are not a franchise. We are an Austin family-run business. This means you get dedicated service by us directly, design styling by our Lead Designer and Owner, Kathrin— and best of all— we don’t disappear after delivery. We’re here if you need support with your pumpkins throughout the season.
Styled + installed for you (no hauling)
We take immense care in each design and installation, paying attention to the details, and achieving the right balance of tones and texture for each space.
End-of-season pickup & donation
With every pumpkin package, you have the option to include our removal service at the end of the season. Our team will come by, pick up your pumpkins and hay (if applicable), then bring eligible items to local farms and sanctuaries for donation. Any items that can’t be donated will be responsibly disposed of. No clean up or composting needed on your part!
